We said our good byes to Crystal Auto Rental Belize with our heads held high –
Jenna: It was a moment that held much disappointment as our lack of payment for services rendered was finally confirmed. Our everything was invested into that project – physical effort, finances, time and emotions. It was most certainly a depressing moment for travelers, yet we continued to smile.
Luke: As we pulled out of the compound after saying our goodbyes to those few of better worth, we were in a somber silence of disbelief and despair. Regardless of our position the escape felt like gravity’s weight had halved and we could breath a little easier as the Crystal Auto Belize compound disappeared out of sight in the rear view mirror.
Jenna: The depressing weight of Belize most certainly lifted as we approached the Guatemalan border. Unsure of our future, without a plan or an idea of where we could camp, we drove… we drove fast. Once again we were overlanders lacking a plan and itinerary – just open roads and life’s beautiful game of luck and chance.
JJ: Had to take over dad as he drove like a man possessed.
JJ: I got him passed the worst and let him take over..
… and then we rested our heads wherever the Guatemalans would allow… (lukes lap (free!), the TANK (free!), airports, random hotel parking lots and yacht club parking lots…)
JJ: All I need is dads lap!
JJ: and a break!
JJ: But mum is a better cuddler 🙂 and so onward we moved….
JJ: You two… I’m bloody exhausted! Take me somewhere special!
Needless to say we ALL were itching to find something special, so after days of aimless camping we packed up early and headed onward…
JJ: YALLA! I’m ready!
Towards gorgeous Lake Atitlan…
