I have a passion for jewelry…
It is a love affair – that will last forever.
Jenna: In my living room in Dubai I had 4 prominent, all glass, display cabinets that showcased all pieces i’d made and collected over the years. It was magnificent! I spent too many hours designing & creating and too much money sourcing and buying.
On the road I’ve had to leave that all behind as I can’t be roaming the streets of 3rd world countries decked out, nor can we drive around with such an extensive collection. I miss my pieces and being creative with my hands.
We have a shipment coming soon from Texas with all of our camping bits and I’ve included a massive collection of jewelry making equipment and raw materials. Needless to say I can’t sit still. The creative juices are flowing.
At present I am teaching kids english, reading, writing, manners and helping with their homework. This is not taking place in a clean and air-conditioned class room. We are working in the middle of the Belizean jungle, where we are currently residing, outdoors or in the trailer Luke prepared for us. It is hot, humid, dirty, riddled with spiders and more mosquitos than I care to mention. It’s hard – mentally and physically. Looking at these pictures and reminiscing of past times was difficult for me. But I must press on…
When the shipment arrives I intend on teaching young people, or older, how to make accessories… And although this is not direct lessons on english, they will indirectly learn the english language whilst benefiting financially and mentally from a rather special trade.
All in all i think it is a splendid idea!
